How to photograph
your items

The Two Required Shots

What to send with every estimate request

1

The Wide Shot

Full piece visible
Wide shot framing guideENTIRE PIECE IN FRAME

Step back until the entire item fits in frame with a little space on all sides. Include the legs and the floor — it helps us understand size and scale.

  • Full piece visible — nothing cropped
  • Natural light if possible, no harsh flash
  • Floor visible to give scale reference
  • Straight on or slight 3/4 angle
2

The Close-Up

Fabric & problem areas
Close-up shot framing guideSTAINFABRIC VISIBLE

Move in close to show the fabric texture clearly and highlight any stains, damage, or areas of concern. This is the most important photo for accurate pricing.

  • Fabric weave or material clearly visible
  • Any stains in frame — even old or faint ones
  • Problem area in focus, not blurry
  • One close-up per distinct problem area
Quick Rules

What makes a usable photo

Natural light wins

Take photos near a window during the day. Natural light shows the true fabric colour and makes stains visible. Avoid flash — it washes out texture.

Steady and in focus

Tap the screen to focus before shooting. Blurry photos delay your estimate — our team cannot assess material or stain type from an out-of-focus image.

Clear background

Remove clutter around the item before shooting. A clear frame helps us see the full piece without distraction and makes the size easier to estimate.

2 to 5 photos total

One wide shot and one close-up is the minimum. If you have multiple pieces or several problem areas, send one close-up per area — up to 5 photos maximum.

Show everything relevant

Include all items in your estimate request — even the ones that look fine. Seeing pieces side-by-side helps us create one cohesive estimate rather than multiple.

No filters or editing

Send the original photo unedited. Filters and brightness adjustments change how the fabric colour and stain appear, which can affect estimate accuracy.

Side by Side

Good photo vs. what to avoid

Send this

Full piece in frame, legs and floor visible, natural light from the side, no clutter. Our team can see the scale, style, and overall condition at a glance.

Avoid this

Piece cropped, taken in low light, flash glare obscuring the fabric, clutter in the frame. We cannot determine material, size, or the extent of any damage.
